Bulletin: Fr. Denis Quinkert Elected Abbot

With the new year there are new changes in all of our lives. Blue Cloud Abbey has been a sig- nificant place for many of us over the years since it was established in the early 1950’s. Many of the community members there have lead us in worship and retreats. Abbot Thomas Hillebrand has resigned his position to take a sabbatical after many years as the leader of the Benedictine monastery. The priest elected to replace him is very familiar to us at St. Mary’s. Fr. Denis Quinkert became the 5th Abbot of Blue Cloud Abbey on January 5, 2009. Fr. Denis has celebrated the Holy Mass with us many times at 409 2nd Ave. NE. Our prayers to God for blessings upon Abbot Thomas during his sabbatical, for guidance to Abbot Denis in the years ahead and for thanksgiving for the Benedictine presence in our parish during the past 105 years.
